ASBESTOS REMOVAL

Licensed Asbestos Removal
with Emchia

Licensed asbestos removal is the safe, regulated removal of the highest-risk asbestos materials from a building, carried out by a contractor holding a licence from the Health and Safety Executive.

Emchia delivers it across commercial, industrial, healthcare, and social housing sites throughout the North West, the Midlands, and London, on projects ranging from contained removals within a single building through to contracts valued at £5,000,000.

All works are carried out in line with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, by teams trained and competent to undertake licensed works under Emchia's HSE licence. If you have a project to discuss, speak to our team for a quote based on your site and scope.

What Licensed Asbestos Removal Involves

Licensed asbestos removal is a controlled, regulated process rather than a single task. It begins with a survey to identify and assess the materials present, followed by a site-specific plan of work setting out how the removal will be carried out safely.

Licensed works require a notification to the Health and Safety Executive at least 14 days before work can legally begin, so this period needs to be built into any project timeline. The removal is then carried out within controlled enclosures, with air monitoring by an independent UKAS-accredited analyst, decontamination facilities, and licensed waste disposal all forming part of a compliant programme.

Once complete, the area is independently tested and clearance certification confirms it is safe to reoccupy.

Sectors We Cover

The right approach to a removal depends heavily on the environment it is carried out in. A working hospital, an occupied housing estate, and a live industrial site each bring different constraints, and we plan each project around the realities of the setting.

COMMERCIAL

Our commercial asbestos removal services cover offices, retail units, and mixed-use sites where minimising disruption to occupants and trading is often as important as the removal itself.

Do You Need A Survey First?

Yes. Before any licensed removal can take place, the asbestos-containing materials on site need to be identified, classified, and assessed by a qualified surveyor. For refurbishment or demolition work this is a legal requirement under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, and the survey findings form the foundation of any accurate removal quote.

Emchia bases every quote on a full survey of the site rather than a generic estimate. To talk through how we manage scoping from first contact through to project start, contact our team.
